“Breakthrough expected soon” on striker deal according to exclusive

Chelsea have two pretty delicate double deals to work on at the moment.

The first involves Conor Gallagher and Joao Felix. From what we hear, that’s almost done. Felix has done his medical and agreed a contract. He just needs to sign it now. Gallagher is in London, but ready to fly to Madrid to complete his part of the deal the moment Felix is rubber stamped.

From what we can tell, that should all be done in the next 24 hours or so.

The other deal has been building up for even longer, but remains some way off completion. Napoli want Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, and Chelsea want Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. But both sides started a long way off in terms of their respective valuations, and are only now starting to meet in the middle.

Our writer Simon Phillips today exclusively reported positive news on one side of things on his Substack – the Lukaku deal “advanced a little bit yesterday. Napoli and Chelsea have gotten closer on a fee, and a breakthrough is expected to come soon now if they follow the advancements of yesterday.”

Osimhen finances hard for Chelsea to swallow

That’s positive. But the problem is always going to be on the Osimhen side of things. He’s valued much higher than Lukaku because of his age, and his vast wages are likely to present a problem for Chelsea too. As it stands, we don’t see how the Blues make the move happen without blowing up their whole wage structure.

Phillips speculates that a potential sale of Raheem Sterling might be the only way to make this work – but that presents its own difficulties. even with the winger now apparently seeing the writing on the wall for him at Stamford Bridge.

  1. Please whoever reads this should help me drum it home that Chelsea should never sell Raheem Sterling. It will be hugely counterproductive for this team to get rid of this gem. Close watchers of the game of football know the quality in him. Why buy Joao Felix at all. He has no stamina and starts creating serious fouls in frustration. Please people should mark my words.

    1. Sterling has been a complete failure at Chelsea. get real.
You must be part of his pathetic camp.

    2. Joao Felix to me, is going to be one of the best signing Chelsea ever made. He’s definitely going to comand the midfield with his vast experience, supporting the attack as well. His passes are always accurate, he scores as well, his wealth of experience will speak volume in the midfield, he’s a great player any day, anytime. This is when I now have hope in chelsea team with the signing of Joao Felix.

  2. Chelsea heirarch are a set of confused individual buying players at astronomical prices and latter sold at meagre prices.

  3. It’s a good deal, Felix have the skills to penetrate any defence same as Sterling.. we only need a good finisher either Toney or Osimhen….

    1. Osimhen is needed. If Chelsea could buy midfielders for ,100m why not a striker who will win the matches for us. The midfielders we bought for 100s have been useless watch Bellingham bought for the same price perform.

  4. We can still use Lukaku and give him trust,he will do well and he experience than osimen. We need Stelling please don’t sell him

  5. So, just to see if I’ve got this right.

Chelsea wants to reward one striker – Nicolas Jackson – after a season that was adequate at best by offering him a contract extension.

At the same time, they’re trying to replace him with another striker – Victor Osimhen – who, as things stand, they can’t afford.

Meanwhile, they’re desperate to offload a club stalwart – Conor Gallagher – in exchange for a player in a position we don’t need – Joao Felix.

The consequence being that we now need to offload yet another player – Raheem Sterling – in order to get the Osimhen deal done.

Have I got all that right?

    1. This is the best question i have ever seen since the opening of the transfer window.

I can see how you love the game. Thank you Marcus.

    2. Yes logically you might be have gotten that right. You however seem to have forgotten that football is not mathematics and will never be mathematics! Yes in mathematics removing 3 to add in 2 puts you at a loss whereas if football was like that, everyone including myself will be winning my bookings every single match day.
As far as Chelsea is concerned, Jao and Osimhen are both needed at the moment. Gallagher of course can be conveniently allowed to go considering that Chelsea is actually already battling with the problem of an excess of talents in the midfield role, even sending the likes of Andrey Santos on loan and showing signs of doing same to the supper talented Casadei! Chukwuemeka may even be also completely sold!
To cap it all in response to your allegations, a good player has no inherent position on the field of play. That’s why selling a purported midfielder to bring in a player alleged to be a striker doesn’t actually mean a thing in the game of soccer. What matters is finding a way to perfectly combine the players you’ve got.
Mbappe was seen as the single goal scorer for PSG who then will need no more scorer. You and I know quite well what happened when Messi got into the picture; that was when many people learned that goal scoring isn’t a monopoly! Being able to play your good players at a time is what really matters.
So my guy; Chelsea is simply searching for those good players and nothing else. One can argue but we all know that a substantial amount of players at Chelsea currently aren’t good enough. Their abysmal outing in the last two or three seasons is crystal clear testimony to that.

  6. All Chelsea needed was an experienced #9.the rest were there healing and they are back. Why dissapoint our loyal players and fans

  7. Clubs like Manchester city has about 3 or more players for a position. So Sterling and his camp should stop ranting and if he feels to live the club let him move on. As for Jackson it is a good thing to incurage him he will do well in Chelsea. With Osimhen if possible, Jackson and Mac Guiu the striking position is well equipped. Chelsea only need a world class central defender and the club will be ready to compete well. Select the best 3 for each position and offload the rest no sentiment.

  8. Yes your right they bought so many players with no reason at all, we need a striker, not what they’re bringing

  9. I don’t know why Chelsea will sell Gallagher just to buy Felix, when we know that what we need is Victor Osimhen

  11. This is useless thing just wanted to destroy the team , the team was already come up from 12th place to 6th place this means, this season it come on top 4 but now you are selling those players while they know each other on movement in the peach but now you are starting to make a new team meaning that each season it to be like that no progress.

  12. This is the best time to splash out money in securing the service of a well and established striker…. We have gotten good keepers, great defense, wonderful midfielders, superb wingers, remaining our striking forces….. No time to check time anymore…..
