Chelsea recorded their first win of pre-season against Club America on Wednesday in a much improved showing from their opening two games.
Goals from Christopher Nkunku, Marc Guiu and Noni Madueke saw the Blues run out 3-0 winners and was a clear sign that the squad are starting to get to grips with what Maresca is asking them to do.
The Italian implements a heavy possession based style of football with an emphasis of building play up from the back, and there was one passage of play against Club America which perfectly captured exactly what the 44-year-old wants from his team.
The Blues had the ball in their own half and brilliantly played out from the back into midfield moving the ball quickly and ended up creating a goal scoring opportunity.
If Maresca has already got the team playing like this in just his third game then it certainly bodes well for the future and you can definitely see an identity being formed and a clear style of play already.
