Serie A side in talks with Chelsea for 22-year-old who’s made five appearances for the club

Empoli are in talks with midfielder Tino Anjorin over a permanent move to the Serie A side according to The Athletic.

The Blues are set for a busy end to the summer and whilst they are still looking to bring a striker in the main focus is on departures with the club facing a race against the clock to move players on before the end of the window.

Chelsea have finally agreed a deal with Napoli for Romelu Lukaku but they are still looking to find solutions for the likes of Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah among others.

Away from the big names the Blues are also looking to move on a number of fringe players and having agreed a deal with Burnley for Bashir Humphreys it appears another departure is close.

The Athletic have reported that Anjorin is in talks with Serie A side Empoli over a permanent move to the club and the Italian side hope something will be agreed soon after starting negotiations earlier this week, although there’s also interest from other teams.

The 22-year-old joined Chelsea at under seven level and progressed through the ranks to the first team, making five appearances for the Blues.

Anjorin has just one year remaining on his Chelsea deal.

Anjorin has spent time out on loan over the last few seasons at Lokomotiv Moscow, Portsmouth and Huddersfield but a series of injury issues have limited his game time.

The midfielder has just one year remaining on his deal at Chelsea and isn’t anywhere near the first team picture so leaving the club this summer is the best option.

It’s not clear what transfer fee Chelsea would ask for, but it’s unlikely to be much given the situation with Anjorin’s contract.

With the end of the window in sight the Blues have kicked into gear and a number of players have now been moved on but there’s still plenty of work to do.
