The new Premier League season is now right around the corner with games back at the weekend. For Chelsea, it’s Sunday when the new season begins.
The Blues played their last pre-season friendly of the new campaign on Sunday, drawing 1-1 with Italian side Inter Milan. But the real business begins on Sunday this weekend when Chelsea play Manchester City in their opening league game of the new season.

City are the current league champions, so opening games do not come much tougher than that for Chelsea. But Blues fans will now believe that their task of winning this game has just become much harder after the latest announcement.
Anthony Taylor assigned
Referee Anthony Taylor has been assigned as the official for the game, and that news will be like a nightmare coming true for Chelsea fans.
If you don’t know the history here, Chelsea fans do not like Taylor after a string of bad decisions made by him whilst in charge of Chelsea matches over the years literally just became so ridiculous that it got Chelsea fans claiming he has biased against them and there is some sort of corruption going on because he keeps being given these big Chelsea fixtures to officiate.
Whatever your opinion is on Taylor, some Chelsea fans will be believing that it was just always going to be inevitable that he would be placed in charge of this huge season opener for Chelsea.
Everyone has an opinion of course, and I am sure there are many who believe Taylor is a top Ref and all the above is just nonsense!
