Chelsea have shown interest in signing former player but £65m valuation has put them off

Chelsea have shown an interest in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke but have been put off by the asking price according to journalist Matt Law.

It’s been a busy summer for the Blues, who are currently in America preparing for the final game of their tour against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

A number of new faces have arrived at the club as the they look to strengthen their squad, but they have yet to make what would be described as a marquee signing.

Chelsea have shown interest in Solanke

It’s no secret the Blues have been looking to sign a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, and despite signing Marc Guiu from Barcelona they are looking to add another striker to their ranks.

The club have been linked with a whole host of names across Europe including Jhon Duran, Jonathan David, Samu Omorodion and Victor Osimhen but nothing has materialised.

Solanke has a £65m release clause in his Bournemouth deal.

Chelsea are considering reigniting their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Omorodion after agreeing to sell Conor Gallagher to the La Liga outfit, with Fabrizio Romano reporting they would be prepared to pay €35m for the 20-year-old.

However, Law has reported they have shown an interest in their former academy graduate Solanke, but the Blues have been put off by his £65m release clause, with Tottenham also holding talks over a move for the striker.

Solanke was brilliant for Bournemouth last season and scored 19 Premier League goals for the Cherries as they finished 12th.

The 26-year-old in theory would be a good signing for the Blues, but it’s a big price and in all honesty if you are going to spend that much money you want someone who is more proven and possesses more quality.

Quite what Chelsea are going to do in regards to a centre forward remains to be seen, but it would be a huge gamble to go into next season with 18-year-old Guiu and Jackson as the forward options with Christopher Nkunku also able to play through the middle.
