Chelsea will want to offer less than Brentford’s £50m asking price for Ivan Toney if they make a bid for the striker before Friday’s deadline but face competition from other Premier League clubs according to The Telegraph.

The Blues have been in the market for a striker all summer and despite signing teenager Marc Guiu from Barcelona they are looking for more competition for Nicolas Jackson.

It’s set to be a busy end to the window at Stamford Bridge and as well as their hunt for a new striker the Blues are looking to move on as many as seven players.

Chelsea will offer less than Brentford’s asking price for Toney

Chelsea have been in talks with Napoli over a move for Victor Osimhen but at this stage the Blues are only interested in a loan deal which doesn’t appeal to the player, not to mention there are issues over his salary.

However, the West London club are thought to have other options and it was reported on Tuesday afternoon they had made a move to sign Toney.

Toney is set to leave Brentford this summer.

The story was broken by Sky Spots but The Telegraph have now added that if the Blues bid for Toney they will want to offer less than Brentford’s £50m asking price.

The England international currently has an agreement on personal terms with Saudi side Al-Ahli although they are yet to agree a fee with Brentford.

The report adds that Toney would have to fit in with Chelsea’s wage structure which obviously wouldn’t match what is on offer in Saudi Arabia.

In regards to Osimhen The Telegraph adds that some progress has been made on the potential structure of the deal, but it feels if the Blues are to make a move for the Nigerian it wouldn’t be until the last couple of days of the window and only if he changes his demands.

Luckily there isn’t long to wait to see how this plays out as they transfer window closes on Friday night at 11pm.
