Latest Chelsea signing could cost up to £25m depending on one circumstance

Jadon Sancho’s loan move to Chelsea will become permanent for between £20-£25m as long as the Blues finish in the top 14 of the Premier League this season according to reports.

Whilst Chelsea were unable to complete a deal for Victor Osimhen they were able to make one deadline day signing in Sancho to further boost their attacking options.

Sancho becomes the third high profile attacking signing to arrive at Stamford Bridge after Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

Sancho to cost Chelsea £20-£25m

There had been talk of a sensational swap deal which would have seen Raheem Sterling head to Old Trafford and Sancho come to West London, but despite talks between the Blues and Manchester United that never materialised.

However, Chelsea were able to secure a separate deal for the 24-year-old after submitting two different loan offers, one with an option to buy the other with an obligation.

The Telegraph have now provided further details on the deal and have reported that Sancho’s move will become permanent as long as Chelsea finish in the top 14, with the fee set to be between £20-£25m depending how high the Blues end up finishing.

A report from The Athletic added that once Sancho’s move becomes permanent he will likely sign a long term contract and Chelsea plan to mainly play him down the left hand side.

Competition for minutes in the wide areas will be fierce and Sancho will be competing with Neto, Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk, not to mention the likes of  Cole Palmer, Nkunku and Felix can also be deployed in those roles.

For Chelsea this deal is fitting with their business in the summer window, another opportunistic move and from a financial perspective it looks like a great deal considering United paid in excess of £70m for the winger in 2021, and he’s also agreed a pay cut to fit in with the club’s wage structure.
