Chelsea fire sale continues with €45m agreement reached on major transfer

Napoli have reached an agreement with Chelsea worth €45m for Romelu Lukaku with the striker set to sign a three year deal with the Serie A outfit according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are set for a busy end to the window and whilst they are still focusing on trying to bring a striker in the main priority is moving players on.

The club have a number of players training away from the first team as they try to sort their futures out before the deadline on Friday.

Napoli and Chelsea reach Lukaku agreement

One player the Blues have been trying to move on not just this summer, but for the last two years is Lukaku, with his return to Stamford Bridge nothing short of a nightmare.

The Belgian, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter and Roma had his heart set on a move to Napoli and a reunion with Antonio Conte, but despite weeks of negotiations the clubs still hadn’t reached an agreement.

However, Romano provided an update on Friday evening which will delight Chelsea fans as an agreement on a permanent deal was finally reached.

He took to X.com and said:

“Romelu Lukaku to Napoli, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs. Chelsea accept €30m fixed fee plus add-ons up to €15m for €45m potential package. Permanent transfer brokered by Ali Barat for Epic Sports. Lukaku will sign 3 year deal at Napoli until 2027.”

The Blues had earlier this week turned down a  loan offer with an obligation to buy worth around £25.5m and they have stood firm in getting the full €45m exit clause.

They have now got that and although it remains to be seen how easily attainable the €15m in add ons is Chelsea have seemingly negotiated the best deal they could.

This might not be the only business between the clubs and focus will now shift to seeing if a deal can be agreed for Victor Osimhen with Chelsea keen on signing the striker on loan, whilst the clubs are also reportedly in talks for Carney Chukwuemeka.
