Chelsea dealt potential blow as blockbuster transfer saga takes another twist

Chelsea have been handed a potential blow in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen with the striker open to joining Al-Ahli according to reports.

The Blues are set for a busy final few days of the window as they look to bring a new striker in, whilst also looking to offload a number of players.

Despite signing Marc Guiu the Blues have made it clear they want to bring in a more proven striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, and have been strongly linked with Osimhen for most of the summer.

Osimhen now open to Saudi move

It appears the race for Osimhen is between the Blues and the Saudi Pro League side, but the big issue for Chelsea is convincing the Nigerian to drop his wage demands and fit in with the club’s wage structure.

It’s thought Chelsea are still in talks with Osimhen’s camp and it feels this move will go right to the final day of the window, but in order for it to happen there’s going to have be some level of compromise from the Nigeria international.

The Blues are clearly sticking to their guns in regards to the wage structure and aren’t being bullied into paying Osimhen what he wants.

Osimhen seemingly has a choice between Chelsea and Al-Ahli.

The 25-year-old has turned down an offer from Al-Ahli with his agent stating he’s got unfinished business in Europe.

However, a fresh report from Italian outlet Di Marzio has suggested Osimhen is now open to the Al-Ahli move and the Saudi side have increased their offer.

The report adds that Napoli hope to be able to close the deal with Al-Ahli, who made an initial offer of in excess of €65m.

This new could perhaps be why Chelsea made a move for Ivan Toney on Tuesday as they know a move for Osimhen could prove difficult.

Chelsea won’t be able to compete with the finances on offer in Saudi and Osimhen’s decision will tell us whether he’s purely money motivated or wants to test himself at the highest level.

  1. If this rumour is true , it’s better for Chelsea FC to sign Toney instead or lewin from Everton .

  2. He’s just interested in the money, not the football and what football means. Let the mercenary go to Saudi!!
