Chelsea now 25 million away from unblocking connected transfer operation

Chelsea are 25 million away from unblocking a transfer situation that has turned into a saga that connects two players and effects two clubs.

It’s an operation and a saga that has become very messy, especially for the players involved. One player in particular has been truly messed around.

Conor Gallagher returned to the UK from Spain yesterday after flying out there last week to sign for Atletico Madrid.

Having said just one player, actually it’s two players. Because Samu Omorodion from Atletico also had to do the same. He was in London ready to sign for Chelsea.

Something happened and that deal broke down and Omorodion had to fly back to Spain. Gallagher then had to do the same back to the UK.

It’s not over though

Gallagher’s move to Atletico has just stalled, it’s not over. Parties are trying to find a solution to get it done, and that solution appears to still be Joao Felix going to Chelsea.

It wont be a swap deal as such, but it seems clear to me that Chelsea have to sign an Atletico player to see Gallagher go there as part of an unofficial swap deal.

Spanish journalist Marcus Benito has the latest on the saga (as seen above).

He says: ‘Conor Gallagher before his flight met with Carlos Bucero, another executive, and his agent, and they have asked him for patience, that they will solve it by unblocking the Joao Felix operation. Tomorrow, Gallagher will train with Chelsea youth team, Atletico asks Chelsea for 60 million whilst Chelsea sent a first offer of 35 million, Atletico are waiting for Chelsea to present a better offer.’

  1. This is not only humiliating but disgraceful on the part of Chelsea football club. This would never have happened under the previous regime. I feel so sorry for Connor. Chelsea through and through. A guy who works his backside off for the club he loves. To be but in this situation is disgraceful. Conor is a gem and I truly wish him the best for the future. Stick it to ’em boy!
