Romano provides updates as Chelsea look to find agreement for blockbuster transfer

The expectation for the Victor Osimhen deal is that it will head towards the final days of the window according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have been busy in the window so far and their main signing to date has been winger Pedro Neto from Wolves , who completed his £51.4m to Stamford Bridge last weekend.

It’s set to be a busy final couple of weeks of the window for Chelsea as they look to conclude deals for Osimhen and Joao Felix, and move on a number of unwanted players.

Despite signing Marc Guiu from Barcelona the Blues are still in the market for a goalscorer and are strongly linked with a move for Osimhen, although a deal is complicated.

Discussions have been held with Napoli over the possibility of the Nigerian being involved as part of the deal which would see Lukaku join the Serie A outfit.

Chelsea want to sign Osimhen this summer but only on their terms.

It’s believed the Blues want to sign Osimhen but only on loan, something which the striker isn’t thought to be keen on.

Chelsea appear to have an advantage over any potential competitors for the Nigeria international’s signature as Napoli want Lukaku to replace him, with the Belgian reportedly already agreeing a three year contract.

As of yet an agreement has yet to be reached for either player, but Romano has provided an update on the situation.

“The expectation for the Victor Osimhen deal is to go closer to the end of the window. Chelsea has always seen him as an opportunity, so maybe a loan deal closer to the end. The player has no intention of a loan or reducing wages, so it won’t be easy,” he told his YouTube channel.

If the Blues were able to complete a deal for Osimhen it would be a huge coup given they don’t have Champions League football, and he would add that much needed top class goalscoring ability which is currently missing from the squad.
