Sensational swap deal currently held up by one major obstacle

Chelsea owe Raheem Sterling £70m in wages and bonuses for the remaining three years of his contract as they try and move the winger on according to reports.

The Blues are set for a busy last few days of the window as they try to move as many as seven players on and sign a new striker.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are facing a race against the clock and have a number of headaches, most notably how they are going to move on both Sterling and Ben Chilwell, who are no longer part of the plans.

Chelsea owe Sterling millions

The Blues have made it clear to Sterling he needs to find another club and the 29-year-old, who has been training away from the first team squad at Cobham has also had his number seven shirt given to new signing Pedro Neto.

Chelsea might have to get creative in trying to find a solution for Sterling and there’s been talks over a potential swap deal involving Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.

However, it’s not an easy deal to do, although Sterling is said to be open to making the switch to Old Trafford and there’s a number of obstacles that need to be overcome.

Chelsea still has three years remaining on his lucrative contract.

Perhaps the biggest is coming to a financial agreement with Sterling and Mail Sport have reported the Blues owe him £70m in wages and bonuses for the final three tears of his contract.

It’s also been reported that Sterling wishes to sort out his contractual situation with Chelsea first before deciding which club he wants to move to.

The amount of money Chelsea owe Sterling is astronomical and you can see why they want that contract off their books with Sterling seemingly declining as a player and not living up to expectations following his move from Manchester City in 2022.

The swap deal might be Chelsea’s best way of offloading Sterling but with so much to sort out and so little time to do it they may have let it to late.

  1. What planet is the arrogant little git on !!

Surely when he moves clubs his contract will end and his salary will be paid by the new employer like any other job of work. Let him sit at home and rot, I hope the horrid guy never plays anywhere again.
