Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before the end of the window according to The Athletic.
The Blues are going to be working over time during the final few days of the window and still have a number of players they need to move on, whilst the club are also working on bringing a new striker in.
The likes of Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Armando Broja are all surplus to requirements but the Blues are running out of time to find solutions for the trio amongst many others.
Chelsea to listen to Chukwuemeka offers
Another player who could leave before Friday’s deadline is Chukwuemeka with the 20-year-old seemingly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder arrived from Aston Villa in a deal worth £20m in 2022 but his time in West London has been plagued by injury and he’s been limited to just 27 appearances in all competitions across two seasons.
Chukwuemeka is clearly a talented player and has shown his quality on occasion but he simply hasn’t been able to keep himself fit.
After having the summer off it appeared Chukwuemeka had returned refreshed and would be part of Maresca’s plans as he started the first two games of pre-season.
However, the former Villa man hasn’t kicked a ball for the Blues since then and hasn’t made the match day squad for any of Chelsea’s three games this season.
The Athletic have now reported that Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for Chukwuemeka and it’s thought Crystal Palace could be one of the teams interested.
It was reported earlier this summer that Chukwuemeka had a release clause of £40m in his contract, but you would have to imagine it’s unlikely any potential suitors would pay that much and the Blues may have to accept less if they want to move him on, whilst Chelsea are only thought to be open to a loan deal if there’s an obligation to buy included.
