Chelsea ace could be set for shock stay because of one reason

Trevoh Chalobah has impressed many within Chelsea at how he’s handled everything and the Blues could now listen to offers for Axel Disasi instead.

It’s set to be a frantic end to the window for the Blues and as well as their hunt for a new striker they also need to move a number of players on.

The most high profile of those are Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell but Chelsea would still like to move Chalobah on before Friday’s deadline.

Chelsea could sell Disasi instead of Chalobah

Chalobah was arguably Chelsea’s best defender over the second half of the season after he returned to the side following a spell out injured.

The 25-year-old put in series of impressive performances as the Blues rallied to finish the campaign strongly and secure a top six finish.

However, despite giving Chalobah a new long term contract until 2028 less than two years ago the academy graduate was left of the squad for the pre-season tour of America and has been training away from the first team ever since.

Chalobah could remain at Chelsea despite being frozen out.

Chelsea are thought to value Chalobah at around £25-£30m but as we enter the final few days of the window a departure doesn’t fee like it’s particularly close.

Crystal Palace are thought to be one club interested but there’s a possibility of a shock change of events in regards to Chalobah.

Journalist Rahman Osman has reported that whilst Chalobah could still leave he’s impressed many at the club with how he’s handled the situation and the Blues could listen to offers for Disasi instead.

How true this is remains to be seen but with the clock ticking there’s a good chance Chalobah remains at the club and Chelsea will be faced with a decision of whether to reintegrate him into the first team squad or continue to freeze him out and try to find a solution in January.

As is the case with Sterling and Chilwell it feels Chelsea are really up against it to find solutions and the possibility of all three being at the club after Friday’s deadline can’t be ruled out.
