Chelsea kicked off their season with a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge as the Enzo Maresca era got underway.

Four summer signings made their debuts, with Pedro Neto impressing from the bench and despite defeat there were positives to take and something to build on going forward.

However, the performance of Robert Sanchez left much to be desired and his display was littered with poor distribution, which eventually led to City’s second goal from Mateo Kovacic which the 26-year-old should have done better with.

Chelsea fans aren’t enamoured with Sanchez with many thinking he simply isn’t up to the task, with Djordje Petrovic, who out performed his last season now surplus to requirements.

The Blues signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal this summer and there’s an expectation he will become the club’s number one sooner rather than later as he’s been specifically signed with Enzo Maresca’s system in mind.

However, Chelsea fans will be hoping it happens soon after Mozo Football released stats of Sanchez’s performance in comparison with other goalkeepers across the opening weekend with the Spaniard ranking very lowly in several key factors.

Sanchez a cause for concern
