Chelsea ace with four appearances for the club set to join another Premier League team

David Datro Fofana has agreed to join newly promoted Leicester City according to reports, with the last details being finalised on a loan with an option to buy.

The Blues have got a number of players they are looking to offload this summer, but progress on outgoings has been slow partly because of the Euros and the Copa America taking place this summer.

Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson have been the only departures of note, whilst Conor Gallagher is expected to complete his move to Atletico Madrid in the coming days, although he’s yet agree personal terms according to The Athletic.

However, it appears Chelsea could be close to another departure and London World have reported that Datro Fofana has agreed to join Leicester City.

The report adds that final details are being sorted out over a loan deal with an option to buy, whilst there’s also said to be interest from Spanish side Villarreal.

The Blues signed Fofana from Norwegian side Molde for £11m in January 2023, but he’s barley kicked a ball for the club and has made just four appearances.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin where he scored twice in 17 appearances.

Chelsea recalled the striker in January and sent him on loan to Burnley for the second half of the campaign where he made a good impression scoring four goals in 15 appearances, and it now seems he’s set to remain in the Premier League with the Foxes.

Datro Fofana isn’t the only striker the Blues are trying to offload with Armando Broja also up for sale but interest in his services from potential suitors appears to have cooled in recent weeks.

However, a new striker appears to be on their way with the Blues set to sign Samu Omorodion in a deal worth £35m from Atletico Madrid, and the 20-year-old is set to sign a long term contract with the club.
