Raheem Sterling is looking to reach an agreement with Chelsea on what they owe him before deciding which club to join next according to David Ornstein.

The Blues, who recorded their first Premier League win of the season on Sunday with an emphatic 6-2 win away at Wolves have made it clear Sterling is no longer part of the plans.

The club now face a race against the clock to find a solution and move the England international on who is thought to earn in excess of £300,000 per week.

Chelsea owe Sterling tens of millions of pounds

Sterling joined the Blues in a deal worth £50m from Manchester City in 2022 and was billed as a marquee signing in the first transfer window of the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.

However, it’s safe to say that things haven’t gone to plan for the 29-year-old and he’s failed to live up to expectations, whilst he was even booed by Chelsea supporters at times last season.

With the decision now taken to move on him attention turns to finding solutions and there have been links with the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Juventus, but Sterling’s preference is believed to be a permanent exit not a loan.

Sterling is expected to leave Chelsea in the final week of the transfer window.

Ornstein has now provided an update on the situation and reported that Sterling is looking to reach an agreement with the Blues on the money they owe him before deciding which club he wants to join.

“There are talks between himself and the club hierarchy over what to do,” he told NBC Sport.

“There are three years left on his contract that is in excess of £325,000 a week. So what Chelsea owe him runs into the tens of millions of pounds, and I think Raheem Sterling’s priority is to settle that before deciding where he might like to go.”

Sterling made 31 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists, but it’s almost certain he’s played his final game for the club.
