Chelsea star turns down move as club face race against the clock to find solution

Djordje Petrovic has turned down the prospect of moving to Strasbourg this summer according to reports, with Chelsea keen to move the goalkeeper on.

Once again it’s been a busy summer for the Blues and whilst the spending hasn’t reached the levels of previous windows the club have still invested heavily in improving the squad.

The two main arrivals have been Pedro Neto and Joao Felix with the pair adding more quality to Chelsea’s attacking options and the club will be hoping they can make an impact this season.

The Blues are still looking to bring a striker in before the deadline if the right opportunity presents itself, with the club strongly linked with a move Victor Osimhen.

However, the main priority is going to be moving players on, and despite agreeing a €45m deal with Napoli for Romelu Lukaku there’s still plenty of work to do.

Chelsea’s squad size has been well documented in the media recently and the club currently have a group of players training away from the first team including Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah as they try and find solutions for them.

The Blues are also trying to find a new club for Petrovic despite the 24-year-old only arriving last summer and impressing in his debut season.

The club are backing Robert Sanchez despite a mixed time at Stamford Bridge so far, and the arrival of Filip Jorgensen has seen Petrovic slip down the pecking order.

It was reported earlier this summer the Blues had offered the Serbian to Italian side Genoa and Mail Sport have reported the keeper has turned down the chance to join sister club Strasbourg.

Petrovic clearly backs himself to play at a higher level and it remains to be seen if Chelsea decide to loan him or seek a permanent sale.

The club have two international loan spots left, and would likely make a profit on the £14m they paid MLS side New England Revolution 12 months ago if they were to sell.

  1. If i was Chelsea coach i would release Robert Sanchez and keep Jorge Petrovich. Jorge took over for the latter part of the season helping Chelsea secure UEFA spot.
