Enzo Maresca drops hint on transfer business before end of the window

Enzo Maresca insisted he’s happy with Chelsea’s transfer business but admitted anything can happen before the window closes.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer market and whilst their spending hasn’t reached the levels of previous windows they have still added a number of players to the squad.

Chelsea announced the signing of Joao Felix on Wednesday afternoon with the Portugal international returning to the club following a loan spell during the 2022/2023 season.

Maresca refuses to rule of further signings

The additions of Pedro Neto and Felix has certainly pleased fans and changed people’s thoughts on the window so far, with many seeing it as underwhelming before the two latest signings.

Chelsea’s need for a striker is well documented and they are still pursuing a deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, although it remains to be seen how likely it is they sign the Nigerian.

Progress on outgoings has picked up as well but the club still have a number of players to move on including Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, and they face a race against the clock to find solutions.

Osimhen could still arrive at Chelsea before the end of the window.

Maresca was asked about Chelsea’s business this summer ahead of Thursday’s game in the Europa Conference League against Servette and said he was very happy with the signings so far.

“100% (he’s happy),” he told reporters.

“We’ll see (if there will be any more). There are 10 days. Anything can happen. For us, in terms of bringing in a player but also selling a player.”

By now everyone should know to expect the unexpected with Chelsea when it comes to the transfer window and within reason almost anything is possible.

The Blues have got a quality squad which is more than good enough to finish in the top four and if they are able to add Osimhen to the equation and move on the likes of Sterling and Chilwell not only will it be a very good window there will also be no excuses not to finish in the top four.
