Enzo Maresca’s comments point towards one certain starter vs Man City in league game

Judging by the comments from Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca over night, you’d suspect that he has one certain starter for the first league game of the new season against Manchester City in less than three weeks time.

Chelsea beat Club America 3-0 over night with goals coming from Christopher Nkunku, Marc Guiu, and Noni Madueke. It was a big improvement from Chelsea’s last two pre-season matches and marked the first win of the Maresca era, at least non-competitively.

Sources: Chelsea ‘still there’ for Nico Williams, chasing Desire Doue, and pondering offer to sign Federico Chiesa!

But the Premier League season starts very soon now and that is when the real business commences, that is when it all gets very real.

Maresca is facing familiar friends at City, his former club, but that will all go out the window when the whistle goes to start the game.

Dewsbury-Hall to be key

Impressive debut from the midfielder

I believe Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will start the City game, and the comments below back that up…

MAresca was asked his overall thoughts on Dewsbury-Hall’s debut and the jokes of players naming him the ‘teacher’s pet’…

He said: “I did not know about this joke. From outside, you can see Kiernan is talking a different language to his teammates in terms of he knows exactly what he needs to do on and off the ball. On the ball sometimes he is going to receive it wide, running in behind.

“This is because we have worked together for one year. I asked him to speak with his teammates on the pitch because he knows exactly how we are to move and he is going to help us this season many times.”
