£44.5m man excited to be back as he shares first words since becoming a Blue

Joao Felix feels his move to Chelsea is a chance for him to “find a home” following recent loan spells with the Blues and Barcelona.

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Felix on Wednesday afternoon with the Portugal international signing a six year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

The Blues will pay Atletico Madrid £44.5m for the 24-year-old and he will link up with his Portugal team-mate Pedro Neto after the winger joined the club earlier this month.

Felix on making Chelsea his home

Felix is no stranger to Chelsea having spent time on loan at the club during the 2022/2023 season and worked under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

The Portuguese made 20 appearances and scored four goals but the Blues opted against signing him permanently and he spent last season on loan at Barcelona.

However, Felix is now back at Chelsea and he provides another exciting attacking option for the club as they look to qualify for the Champions League and win silverware this season.

Felix has completed his return to Chelsea.

In his fist interview since returning Felix said the move is a chance for him to a find a home after his recent loan spells.

“It’s a chance for me to find a home,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“After two loans, Chelsea and Barca, I needed to stay permanently in one place. There is no better place for me to be than Chelsea. I see a perfect place to shine.

“It was a little bit of a lot of things that made me want to come back: the project, the club, the league, the fans, the time I spent here that I loved. I felt really good when I was here, despite the results we had. I’m really happy to be back.”

Felix won’t feature against Servette on Thursday night, but there’s an outside chance he could be in the squad against Wolves on Sunday, although it’s more likely he makes his debut against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on September 1st.
