Enzo Fernandez got upset with Chelsea’s £63m man for one reason in draw with Inter

Enzo Fernandez got upset with Marc Cucurella for a moment during Chelsea’s game with Inter Milan on Sunday because he passed the ball backwards instead of passing it to him in space.

The Blues concluded their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Italian champions thanks to Lesley Ugochukwu’s last minute equaliser.

It means Chelsea finish their pre-season campaign with one win from six matches, but there have been positives to take, and Enzo Maresca now has this week to prepare for Sunday’s visit of Manchester City.

Fernandez upset with Cucurella

It was arguably Chelsea’s best performance of pre-season and the Blues created a number of opportunities but were unable to find a breakthrough until late on.

Cucurella, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson all got their first minutes of pre-season, whilst Fernandez captained the side in the absence of Reece James.

Fernandez is set for a leadership role at Chelsea this season.

New signing Pedro Neto was unveiled to the crowd at half time and he will train with his new team-mates this week, and could possibly make his debut against City this weekend.

Fernandez put in a good display and seems to be enjoying the new system and style of play ahead of a big season for the Argentine.

However, London World have reported there was one moment in the first half where the midfielder got upset with Cucurella after he passed backwards when he called for the ball and pointed to the space that he had been in.

Fernandez appears set for a leadership role at Chelsea and it was recently reported that he will be named as one of the club’s vice captains, whilst he was also seen in discussion with Mykhailo Mudryk on a number of occasions throughout the game.

It appears Fernandez is developing well into a leadership role and Chelsea certainly need more of those qualities in their squad given it’s still very young and inexperienced.
