Conor Gallagher’s transfer to Atletico Madrid will likely fall through if Chelsea don’t agree a fee for Joao Felix according to journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

Gallagher has been left in limbo after agreeing to move to Atletico with a fee of around £34m agreed and he’s been waiting to sign his five year contract.

The 24-year-old spent five days in Madrid but has now returned to London where he’s expected to train with Chelsea’s under-21 team.

Gallagher deal likely to collapse if Felix fee can’t be agreed

The hold up in the Gallagher deal is due to Chelsea’s move for Atletico striker Samu Omorodion collapsing despite a deal worth £34.5m being agreed, but reportedly there was a major issue with finalising the contract.

It’s believed the La Liga outfit need to make a sale in order to help fund their move for Gallagher after signing Julian Alvarez from Manchester City in a deal which could be worth up to £81m.

Gallagher has been unable to finalise his move to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea are now locked in talks with Atletico over the possibility of signing Joao Felix but so far there is gap in valuation between the two clubs.

Kinsella has provided an update on the situation and has reported that while the deal isn’t off at the moment it’s in danger of collapsing, which will likely be the case if the Blues can’t agree a fee for the Portugal international.

The Blues are keen to sell Gallagher as they don’t want to lose him on a free next summer but at the moment everything seems to be a bit of a mess and the clock is ticking, although reportedly both clubs remain keen on striking a deal.

Gallagher came through the ranks at Chelsea and captained the side for the majority of last season in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell and played a key role as the Blues secured a top six finish and a return to European football.
