“The whole team has helped me a lot” – Chelsea youngster opens up on move to the club

Marc Guiu has revealed the whole Chelsea squad have helped him a lot following his arrival at the club this summer.

Guiu arrived from Barcelona after the Blues activated the €6m release clause in his contract and he’s made a good impression on the pre-season tour of America.

The 18-year-old got his first goal for the club in the victory against Club America and has certainly impressed with his sharpness in the final third and his physicality, which bodes well for the Premier League.

Guiu on settling in at Chelsea

Guiu came through the ranks at Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy and made seven appearances for the first team last season.

He scored on his debut just 23 seconds after coming off the bench and has also already scored in the Champions League, which the Blues will be hoping to qualify for this season.

Leaving his boyhood club at such a young age is a huge change for the striker, but he’s revealed he’s settling in well at his new home.

It’s unclear if Guiu will stay at Chelsea this season or go on loan.

“I am enjoying it very much, I’m having a good time and people are behind us,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“The whole team has helped me a lot. It’s a very young squad so that helps. We get along super well. Everyone in there, the players and the staff, have been very welcoming and supportive.

“The tour has been very positive because you get to spend a lot of time with the whole group. That brings people closer and you can focus more on training, training, training, and that helps too on a personal level.”

A final decision has yet to be taken on whether the teenager will be part of the squad next season or if he will go on loan, and he’s got two more opportunities to impress in pre-season against Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

The Blues look like they are set to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid for around £35m, which would seemingly push Guiu further down the pecking order and make a loan more likely.
