“It does make you worry…” – Chelsea’s €63m gamble has multiple red flags

Chelsea have just about confirmed the €63m signing of Pedro Neto, the Wolves winger, and on the London is Blue podcast went into some detail about this.

They point out that since 2020/2021, he has not played over 2000 minutes in a season. The last few years have seen the Blues crippled by injuries, and this transfer seems like another red flag.

Neto has had multiple hamstring injuries, a bad knee injury and a bad ankle injury. Honestly, you aren’t going to find a more concerning rundown than that in physical terms.

“It does make you worry, especially with the hamstring… once that goes, it’s really really hard to come back to your best,” they pointed out.

You’d like to think that our physios are really taking their time over the medical today – but there’s only so much they can do in terms of both assessing risk and preventing future problems.
