Journalist confirms Manchester United interest in forgotten Chelsea player

Manchester United are showing interest in one Chelsea player for a potential move this summer, a journalist has confirmed this week.

United manager Erik Ten Hag is looking to make some more improvements to his squad before the end of this window, and Chelsea are looking to make a host of player sales before the window shuts too.

Sources: Chelsea make contact with Liverpool regarding signing one of their players this month!

Both clubs could help each other out here if United decide to take this interest any further.

United are looking for a reinforcement in the left back area, and could turn to Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell if they can overlook his bad injury history.

United like Chilwell

Chilwell up for sale by Chelsea

The Red Devils are keen on Chilwell and have been looking at him for this window, according to journalist Simon Phillips writing an extensive transfer updates article on his Substack site this morning.

Phillips writes:

“Sources understand that Manchester United ARE keen on Chilwell this window. No other clubs mentioned as yet. Again, he’s not in Chelsea/Enzo Maresca’s first team plans and is up for sale.”

Chilwell will be gutted to find himself in this position having been named vice club captain last season and he will be concerned with what clubs are going to invest in him with his bad injury record throughout his career. Staying at Chelsea would clearly be his preference, but I think he will also want to play football. So if he is not going to get that at Chelsea then I think he will end up pushing for a move away as Chelsea seem to be pushing him for it.
