Major outgoing could gather pace this week with Chelsea desperate for a resolution

Napoli will try and reach an agreement with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku this week according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a busy summer for the Blues with a number of new faces coming through the door, although their move for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion appears to have collapsed.

However, with the end of the window drawing closer Chelsea are in desperate need to offload a number of players as they look to reduce their squad size.

Napoli want to reach Lukaku agreement this week

The Blues have several players training away from the first team as they try to sort out their futures with Lukaku part of that group along with the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja.

Chelsea have been trying to offload the Belgian and end his nightmare second spell at the club, with Lukaku spending the last two seasons on loan at Inter and Roma.

The Belgium international, who has hit heart set on a move to Napoli and a reunion with Antonio Conte has reportedly agreed a three year deal with the club.

Lukaku has a £38m exit clause in his contract which Chelsea would expect to be paid in full, although reports in Italy have suggested Napoli aren’t prepared to pay that.

The situation is made more complicated by the fact Napoli need to offload Victor Osimhen in order to create space for Lukaku and they have been in talks with Chelsea over the possibility of the Nigerian being involved as part of the deal which would see the 31-year-old move to Italy.

Romano has provided an update on the situation and has reported Napoli will try and reach an agreement with Chelsea for Lukaku this week.

“Napoli (this week) are prepared to get in touch with Chelsea again to try to reach an agreement and bring Romelu Lukaku to Antonio Conte,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Chelsea want a permanent sale, but it remains to be seen if their stance changes the closer it gets to the end of the transfer window, but arguably more important than the transfer fee is getting Lukaku’s vast wages off the books.
