New rumours add Premier League team to list of suitors for Chelsea’s £30m striker

Chelsea are just days away from the start of the season, and two weeks from the closing of the transfer window.

It’s time to get things into gear, and it seems that’s finally happening in terms of trimming the squad down. With the group now back from the USA tour, things can get into gear.

Despite the failure to sign a striker so far, Armando Broja is very much up for sale, and we today hear from the East Anglia Daily Times that the latest club to show an interest are Ipswich Town.

So far the majority of rumours have concerned clubs in Italy or Germany, but now we’ve apparently got Premier League interest in the academy graduate. Given our hefty asking price of £30m, the piece claims that it would need to be an initial loan deal.

We’re not sure Chelsea would be too keen on that setup: their priority is to sell him, as soon as they can. But if no other tempting offers are on the table and Ipswich offer a good wage contribution, and maybe a compulsory purchase option should they stay up, we can see it happening.

New chapters ready to be written for unlucky striker

Broja has never been able to live up to the promise he showed in good loans at Vitesse and at Southampton. The flashes he showed there were excellent, but injuries and simply a lack of game time since then has made things hard. Battling at the bottom with Ipswich would be no easy ride, but he would get plenty of playing time and get to work for a really impressive young manager.

Still just 22, there’s plenty of room for more chapters in the Armando Broja story. Wherever he goes we just want to see him thrive.
