Christopher Nkunku admitted he was very disappointed to get injured last summer, but he’s now put that behind him and is only looking forward.
There was much excitement around Nkunku’s arrival from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig last summer in a deal worth £52m.
The 26-year-old made a brilliant start to pre-season but unfortunately picked up a knee injury in the final game of the tour which ruled him out for four months.
Nkunku only looking forward
The France international would have to wait until December to make his debut, but further injury issues at the start of the season limited him to just 14 appearances in all competitions.
Nkunku had a well earned rest over the summer and has come back for pre-season looking refreshed and revitalised.
He’s made a brilliant start, scoring three goals in as many games so far and will be hoping to continue that run against Manchester City on Saturday.
This is a big season for Nkunku and he seems perfectly suited to Maresca’s system given his versatility across the attacking positions.
Speaking ahead of the City game Nkunku admitted he was very disappointed to get injured last summer given how excited he was for the season.
