“He’s a unique talent” – Madueke shares honest thoughts on one of his favourite players

Noni Madueke has described team-mate Cole Palmer as a unique talent and one of his favourite players with the pair striking up a brilliant on pitch relationship.

Madueke has carried his fine end of season form into the new campaign and scored a brilliant hat-trick in last weekend’s victory against Wolves.

Despite increased competition following the arrival of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and now Jadon Sancho, the 22-year-old is doing everything he can to show he deserves to be in the starting line-up.

Madueke on Palmer

Madueke and Palmer know each other very well having spent a lot of time together with the England under-21s and the pair were part of the successful side which won the under-21 Euros along with Levi Colwill.

That on pitch chemistry was evident in the victory against Wolves with Palmer assisting all of Madueke’s second half goals.

Speaking well before the Wolves game in words which will go out in the matchday programme for the game against Crystal Palace, Madueke said Palmer was one of this favourite players and described him as a unique talent.

“He’s a unique talent,” Madueke said.

“He’s got a wiry quickness and really clean movements. His left foot is a wand, he’s one of my favourite players, to be honest.”

It’s likely many Chelsea fans will echo Madueke’s comments and the task facing Palmer now is whether he can replicate or get close to his form from last season, but he’s not made a bad start with four goal contributions in the opening two games.

Following Thursday’s defeat against Servette in the Europa Conference League, Chelsea will be hoping the pair can link up to devastating effect again against Crystal Palace on Sunday as the Blues look to make it two Premier League wins in a row and head into the international break on a high.
