Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been providing some updates on Chelsea’s attempts to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli last night.
It looks like a tough deal to do and we have always been expecting this one to drag on to the final couple of weeks of the window due to the poker game that is going on between Napoli and Chelsea.

As you will know, Napoli want to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, and Chelsea want to sign Osimhen from Napoli. So it sounds easy in that sense, but the reality is quite different.
There appears to be many complexities involved in this, and on Chelsea’s side one of the most complex things will be to agree with the player.
Osimhen is on big wages and as we know, Chelsea have worked hard to trim their wage bill in the last couple of seasons and don’t tend to sign players in on big wages anymore. But surely Osimhen will be seen as an exeption that might be worth it? Time will tell.

We are not there yet apparently, but Romano is suggesting we might soon be aiming for ‘hot stages’ of this deal, which will excite Chelsea fans.
He was speaking last night on his own stream (as cited above), and said:
“Chelsea still need to do some work on the player side before I can say we are at the hot stages of the Osimhen story, we are not there yet, discussions with Napoli but NOT YET the player.”
That sounds promising to me. Surely Chelsea wouldn’t agree everything with the club if they didn’t feel they can agree with the player?
