Raheem Sterling has agreed a wage cut as part of his loan move to Arsenal with Chelsea set to pay 50% of his salary according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Blues will be relieved they have managed to find a solution for Sterling, and although they will have to revisit the situation in 12 months time a portion of his significant wages are now off the books.
Chelsea were very much facing the prospect of Sterling still being at the club after Friday’s 11pm deadline, but a late move to London rivals Arsenal materialised which seems to suit all parties.
Chelsea to pay half of Sterling’s wages
The Blues had made it clear to the 29-year-old that he wasn’t part of the plans under Enzo Maresca, despite featuring prominently during pre-season and Sterling had been training away from the first team since being left out of the match day squad for the opening game of the season against Manchester City.
His temporary switch to the Emirates contains no option or obligation to buy and Jacobs has provided further details on the finances of the deal.
He took to X.com and said:

The fact Chelsea seemingly aren’t getting a loan fee isn’t great, but it’s clearly a sign the Blues were prepared to compromise in order to make sure Sterling wasn’t at the club this season.
The England international will once again link up with Mikel Arteta and he knows the Spaniard well from his time at Manchester City.
Sterling failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge following his £50m move from City in 2022, with the winger booed at times last season by Chelsea fans, and the Blues will be hoping if he does well at Arsenal he plays himself into contention for a permanent move somewhere next summer.
