€45m transfer set to be finalised with medical to take place on Wednesday

Romelu Lukaku has been given permission to travel to Napoli with his medical expected to take place in Rome on Wednesday according to reports.

The Blues agreed a fee with Napoli last week worth an initial €30m for the Belgian which could rise to €45m with add ons.

Lukaku has agreed a three year deal with the Serie A side and will reunite with former manager Antonio Conte after the pair had a successful spell together at Inter Milan.

Lukaku to undergo Napoli medical

Chelsea have trying to move the Belgian on for the last two years and his return to Stamford Bridge has been an absolute nightmare.

The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter and Roma and after rejecting an initial loan offer with a obligation to buy worth around £25.5m from Napoli the Blues have now agreed a deal potentially worth the full €45m exit clause they wanted.

The deal is all agreed but Nizaar Kinsella has reported there’s a minor issue on image rights which is being worked on in his contract directly with Napoli.

He took to X.com and said:

“Romelu Lukaku has permission to travel for his medical, which is expected to take place in Rome tomorrow. Club-to-club agreement is not an issue but there’s a minor image rights one being worked in his contract with Napoli directly.”

Lukaku hasn’t played for the Blues since May 2022 and finally everyone will be able to move on from the saga, whilst it’s believed there’s also a sell on clause in the deal.

The Belgium international isn’t the only striker who is set to leave Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are still looking to find solutions for Armando Broja and David Datro-Fofana.

In terms of an incoming striker the Blues are still in talks with Napoli over the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen, whilst it’s also been reported the club have made a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
