“The team was good off the ball and on the ball” – Enzo claims Chelsea were let down by bad start

Enzo Maresca spoke to Chelsea TV after his team were battered by a Man City youth side, and as you’d expect he looked to the positives.

“The team was good off the ball and on the ball,” he claimed, noting that after the first 5 minutes (where they conceded twice) things had been improved greatly. He also blamed the slow pitch, something which his opposite number Pep Guardiola noted had caused the Blues issues.

We totally agree that these games are all about getting players fit and helping them work on the new system. The problem is – there’s now just two weeks to go until the new season starts, and time is running out to make a big change to how we’re playing.

You can see the manager speaking in the clip embedded here:

Let’s hope there’s a major improvement in the final two friendlies to come. Two weeks is enough to see major improvements, but if they go like this game, we’re in trouble.
