On Sky Sports today they’re trying to get their head around why Chelsea want to sell Conor Gallagher.
Links with Atletico Madrid are only getting stronger, and Tottenham and Aston Villa have also reportedly been keen. Yet Chelsea still seemed determined to get rid of him. The pundits on Sky’s Transfer Talk couldn’t understand that, given his form and his record.
“[He’s] one of the players the team leaned on,” the pundits called him, and there’s no doubting that. At times last season when things got really mutinous, his efforts were the only things keeping us afloat.
They then bring up his Premier League stats from last season – top in touches, duels won, possession won and distance covered. Second only to Cole Palmer in assists.
No wonder they all agree that Gallagher “would be an asset to any team out there.”
