(Video): Enzo Maresca admits he hasn’t solved Chelsea’s big problem yet

Chelsea’s preseason is over, concluding with 1-1 draw with Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.

After the game, manager Enzo Maresca was asked about his thoughts on the game and he insisted he was “very happy,” pointing to the way his team had created “six or seven clear chances.” That’s a familiar complaint from the last few years.

Off the ball he was impressed too. “We are improving,” he said, adding that he could “see clearly” his methods taking hold. It’s much easier for him to say that after a draw than a defeat, and it was very nearly a defeat.

These words about big improvements, and his slightly uncomfortable insistence that an improvement had been so evident, would ring a lot more hollow if a ball hadn’t happened to fall to Lesley Ugochukwu in the box in the final minute.

Do you think Maresca means what he said?
