Jon Obi Mikel has had an explosion of interest in his podcast this week after getting some clap back from Nicolas Jackson over the weekend – and like all good content creators, Mikel has capitalised.
Today he was firing off some hot takes about the Chelsea links to Jadon Sancho at Man U. Perhaps in the interests of not being known for negativity, Mikel claimed that Sancho was a “fantastic” player who would do great at Chelsea. We’re not sure we agree.
What we do agree on is Mikel’s follow up – there’s simply no room for the winger in this squad right now.

Mikel was, at best, an average player, and he’s an even worse pundit. Just goes to show that all you need these days is a microphone and a loud mouth. Chelsea News would be doing us all a favor if they wouldn’t give this moron oxygen by repeating what he has to say until/unless he has something that’s actually incisive to add. He’s certainly not alone, but most of the hot takes I’ve seen from him seem aimed more at stirring the pot (and driving clicks) rather than adding value to the conversation around the club. Nicolas Jackson is just the most obvious example where Mikel makes no attempt to be objective and give the player his due and, instead, doubles and triples down on a lad who already looks on track to be a far better player for Chelsea than Mikel ever was.
