His comments today about team selection couldn’t have made that more clear as he fired a much needed warning to his group of players, claiming he would only select them on the merits of their effort levels on the training ground.
“If you think I’m going to give you a chance without working hard, forget about it,” he railed forcefully.
This is exactly what fans want to hear of course, but the proof will be in the pudding when the going gets tough. Will players like Mykhailo Mudryk continue to appear to be given chances purely because of their price tag? Or will young players who are really grafting finally get the nod?
