Chelsea’s new manager is three friendlies into his reign now, and the season is just a couple of weeks away. So it’s the perfect time to have a look at the system he’s going to play.
It’s starting to emerge in the friendlies, but the best way to have it illustrated it in FourFourTwo’s really good video on the subject.
The use of the goalkeepers is something we’ve heard quite a lot about – especially with the hurried signing of Filip Jorgensen completed this week. He’s been brought in to play in a very specific way, and his positioning will affect the other 10 players in a way that Chelsea fans won’t have seen much before.
It’s going to be fascinating to see that in the next few friendlies, where we’ll be able to compare him with Robert Sanchez in similar positions.
