(Video): “They have recruited badly” – Sky pundit pushes back against idea of Chelsea’s grand project

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher laid into Chelsea’s transfer approach last night on Monday Night Football. Presenter David Jones tried to play Devil’s Advocate by questioning whether this was all part of some grand project which we mere mortals can’t see the sense in yet.

We’ve bought so many players – what if they all end up being really good? Who will be laughing then?

But Neville cuts through all the noise by making a very obvious point – we already know the recruitment has been poor, because the club are doing their best to sell players that were bought in the last two years, by these same owners and sporting directors.

“They have recruited badly,” he pointed out, matter of factly.

You can see him make his point in the clip embedded here:

  1. “They have recruited badly” says the former ManU player. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black, lol! Nothing about Carragher or Neville’s comments is “news” insofar as it’s EXACTLY what you’d expect to hear said about Chelsea by a couple of rival players! SuperFrank includes this kind of tripe just because he agrees with it because neither one has said anything particularly insightful. We went out and played pretty darn well under a new manager with many new players against the best side in the league, yet all we hear from this two loudmouths is how awful the ownership is. It’s sour grapes (that their former clubs don’t spend as freely) if you ask me.
