Wolves vs Chelsea – Team News

Chelsea face Wolves at Molineux in just under an hour, and the teams are in!

Well here we are, onto the second part of a Thursday – Sunday grind which is going to become second nature to fans and these players this season if Chelsea do well in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Enzo Maresca has just named his third team sheet in 7 days, and while it largely returns to the team that played against Man City last weekend, there are some interesting changes.

We predicted that Moises Caicedo would not start today, as he was one of the few players who had started both games so far. But he’s in today, with Romeo Lavia not in the squad at all. He must be injured, which is terrible news. He’s been perhaps our best player so far this season.

We also predicted that Nkunku would miss out after being in a similar situation, and he does indeed only make the bench, with Mykhailo Mudryk rather surprisingly given the nod to keep his place on the left wing after another disappointing Thursday night. Noni Madueke has come into the team, with Cole Palmer still in the mix, meaning we will likely see Cole more central, effectively replacing a midfielder with Lavia out.

That adds up to a very attacking team – a front 3 with two wingers and a striker, plus Palmer supporting. We hope that means an entertaining performance. Wolves are well organised and have plenty of talent, so we’d like us to see us on the front foot and put them off balance a little.

The back 5 returns to the same as last week, and with Robert Sanchez in goal knowing he’s under increasing pressure once again. We need to start seeing some consistency of performance now we’re getting some consistency in selection.
