Joe Cole was on TNT Sports’ Coverage of the Ipswich – Liverpool game yesterday, but they simply had to get his take on the summer’s spending at his old club Chelsea.
“It hasn’t gone well,” the former winger said of the project at Chelsea as a whole. He also noted what he would do differently to help the current squad:
“I watch them every week, and I think a good sprinkle of experienced players throughout the club would really help the young players,” he pointed out.
It’s the same thing everyone’s said for two years now – you can’t just buy potential and expect it to explode, you have to put it in the right environment to shine, and sometimes that means a few loss-leader players on the books to help the future stars grow and to get the team winning just to buy time.
