£62m winger already linked with move away from Chelsea – loan more likely

And so it begins… the first whispers about a Mykhailo Mudryk exit from Chelsea are starting, with the player closing in on the second anniversary of his signing for the club for a fee that could rise to £80m – but looks pretty unlikely to at this rate.

Despite some flashes here and there, Mudryk has largely been able to perform for a while game, let alone for periods longer than that. We’re sure that under normal circumstances, moves would have been made to shift him long ago. Various managers have tried and failed to get the best out of him, and under Enzo Maresca’s regime he’s very definitively been put into the second string.

Mykhailo Mudryk runs down another blind alley against Celtic.

Departure rumours start here – but may dragon

Given that, it’s no surprise that rumours he may leave are starting in earnest now. Football Insider claim the Ukraine winger could push for a move himself if he doesn’t seem more playing time. That doesn’t look likely to happen anytime soon, with a host of options able to play on that left wing more effectively than him.

The long contract he signed and the transfer fee paid for him makes a January transfer look impossible, but a loan out somewhere is feasible, if we can get the wage split right. At the moment he’s just sitting on the bench slowly dwindling in value. It would benefit everyone to see him playing somewhere. 61 minutes this season in the Premier League doesn’t do anything for him or for Chelsea.

As for who might take him – there are plenty of teams who might roll the dice on an explosive player who could yet thrive in a new environment. It’s just a question of how much of his wages they’re willing to pay.
