Fabrizio Romano provides surprising update on future of Chelsea youngster

Cesare Casadei is not expected to leave Chelsea in the final days of the remaining markets according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer window for the majority of Europe closed last Friday, but there are still a number of windows open including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Portugal.

Whilst the Blues were able to offload a number of players on deadline day, including late loan deals for Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja, there were still a number of others they weren’t able to find new homes for.

Casadei set to stay at Chelsea

One player who was expected to leave this summer was midfielder Casadei, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Leicester, where he ironically worked under Enzo Maresca before being recalled in January.

The midfielder arrived from Inter Milan in a deal worth an initial £12.6m in 2022 and had been linked with a move to Fiorentina earlier this summer.

The 21-year-old was left out of the squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America and has yet to feature this season, although he was named on the bench for Sunday’s draw against Crystal Palace.

The remaining open markets provide Chelsea with the opportunity to find a solution, but Romano has reported Casadei is set to stay at the club and his future will be addressed in January.

“Cesare Casadei is not expected to leave Chelsea in the final days of the other transfer markets that are open. He will stay, then in the January window we will see his future,” he said on his YouTube channel.

The former Inter man has also recently signed with new agents in Epic Sports who will now be in charge of his career.

Casadei has made 11 appearances for the Blues, totalling just 71 minutes and quite what the plan for him is until January remains unclear, with his path to first team minutes clearly very congested with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all ahead of him in the pecking order.
