Chelsea to make profit on player who’s never played for the club after agreeing £19.3m transfer

Al-Nassr have agreed a deal with Chelsea worth £19.3m for Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel according to reports, as the Blues look to move the teenager on.

Whilst the transfer window may have closed last Friday for the majority of leagues, there’s still some markets  open including in Saudi Arabia, Portugal and Greece.

The Blues were able to move on the likes of Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja on deadline day, but there were still players they were unable to find new homes for.

Al-Nassr agree Angelo deal

Chelsea signed Angelo last summer from Santos for £12.6m and the winger spent last season on loan at sister side Strasbourg.

Angelo, who is yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea had been linked with a move to Turkish side Besiktas earlier this summer, but nothing materialised on that front.

With the arrival of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho it’s meant the chances of Angelo getting any minutes with the first team are virtually none.

However, the remaining markets still provide Chelsea with an opportunity to do business, and it appears they will do exactly that.

Brazilian outlet UOL have reported that Saudi side Al-Nassr have agreed a fee worth £19.3m for the winger, and it appears he’s set to become team-mates with Cristiano Ronaldo.

If the deal goes through it would see Chelsea make a profit on a player who didn’t play for the club other than in pre-season.

The Brazilian signed a long term contract at Stamford Bridge last summer and to seemingly already be on his way out doesn’t make much sense, but this is clearly the model under the new ownership and there will likely be instances of the same with many more players.

Chelsea are also looking to move another Brazilian on in Deivid Washington, with Flamengo interested in signing the teenager on loan, but they face a race against the clock to get a deal done.
