Chelsea ace closes in on shock £33m transfer despite never playing for the club

Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel is closing in on a surprise move to Saudi side Al-Nassr according to reports, with the Blues keen to complete the deal before Monday’s deadline.

The transfer window may have closed for Premier League clubs last Friday, but there are still a number of transfer windows open around the world including in Saudi Arabia.

The Blues were able to offload the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Raheem Sterling on deadline day, but there are still several others they weren’t able to move on, although the Saudi, Portuguese and Dutch markets could provide them with options.

Angelo closes in on Al-Nassr move

One such player is Angelo, with the winger clearly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge despite only arriving at the club from Santos last summer.

The 19-year-old signed a long term contract until 2029 and spent last season on loan at sister club Strasbourg after impressing in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Angelo has yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea.

However, with the arrival of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho it’s meant the chances of Angelo getting any minutes with the first team are virtually none.

Chelsea have been trying to find a solution for the winger, but have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to do so.

However, according to Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande the teenager is closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he would link up with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Casagrande reports that the Saudi side want Angelo to fill their last under-21 foreign spot in the squad, but the Blues are holding out for £33m, with Al-Nassr having bids of £21m and £25m rejected.

Considering Chelsea paid £12.6m for Angelo just a year ago and he’s yet to play a competitive game for the Blues if they could somehow get £33m it would be incredible business and would see them more than double their money on the former Santos man.
