Chelsea already decide to loan out £19m player in January after only signing him in summer

Chelsea have reportedly already decided to loan out a player who they signed for £19m in the summer transfer window just gone.

Even though this player has never even featured for the senior team and has only made two appearances for the development squad in PL2, Chelsea are now planning to loan him out.

It was a very odd signing at the time, with Chelsea paying £19m to sign a youth player from Aston Villa, but clearly Omari Kellyman was part of Ian Maatsen being signed by Villa. It was a sort of favour for a favour deal, or a PSR deal as people call them. It was an unofficial swap deal. Villa basically said they would sign Maatsen for Chelsea’s asking price if Chelsea sign a player from them. Signing Kellyman for £19m was just ridiculous.

Now Chelsea are planning to loan him out, according to a report this morning from Football London.

Pure madness

Kellyman in action in the PL2

Kellyman has been injured, but the report says he is expected back in November. I do wonder after he’s been injured most of this season, who is going to take him on loan in January?

There were apparently plans for Kellyman to go to the United States in the summer for Chelsea’s pre-season tour but an ankle injury he sustained while at Aston Villa meant he was not fit enough in time to make the trip.

This whole situation is just pure madness but I guess that is just where we are in football right now with the over the top PSR restrictions.
