Chelsea now set for uncomfortable tie after late night news on Wednesday evening

Chelsea are now set for a very uncomfortable tie after some late night news that came out on Wednesday evening this week.

The Blues beat League Two side Barrow in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday night earlier this week, seeing them go into the pot for the fourth round, where everything will get much tougher.

All the big guns are staying in the competition and we are yet to see any real shocks, so that means the next round is going to be tough for all the teams.

Chelsea may well have to travel to Newcastle for their next round game, having been drawn against the winner of them or AFC Wimbledon.

Newcastle in the fourth round would present for a very uncomfortable tie for Chelsea.

Chelsea only just got past Wimbledon last season

Chelsea beat Wimbledon in the second round of the League Cup early last season, but they needed a penalty to scrape past 2-1 at home. So even that tie would not be too comfortable for them.

But Chelsea would have been hoping to have avoided Newcastle but as I said, it’s hard to avoid the big teams now as we go into the deeper rounds of the competition.

The worst thing about it is that Chelsea have been drawn away, meaning more travelling amongst a busy set of fixtures where they also have to go to Greece for the Conference League!

We knew it was going to get congested for Chelsea this season, so that’s another reason why they have this huge squad.
