£200,000 per week star has one option left to avoid playing no football until January

Chelsea are open to the idea of sending Ben Chilwell on loan to Turkey according to reports, with the Turkish transfer window not closing until September 18th.

The Blues were unable to find a solution for the left back before last Friday’s deadline and if he remains at the club Chilwell faces the prospect of being frozen out and playing no football until January.

Enzo Maresca made it clear to Chilwell he wasn’t part of the plans and the writing has been on the wall for the England international as he only played 64 minutes in pre-season.

Ideally Chelsea would have liked to sell the 27-year-old, who reportedly earns £200,000 per week but the chances of that now happening appear to have gone.

With the window in Saudi Arabia now closed, the only option left on the table for Chilwell and Chelsea this summer is a move to Turkey.

The Telegraph have reported that Chelsea are open to sending Chilwell on loan to Turkey but they are yet to receive any offers for the Englishman.

The report adds that if Chilwell doesn’t move to Turkey then he will likely continue to train away from the first team after Maresca made it clear there was no way back for him.

Chilwell has been at Chelsea since 2020 after joining in a deal worth £50m from Leicester City and played a key role in the club’s Champions League success in 2021.

However, his time in West London has been plagued by injury and he simply hasn’t been able to get back to the form he showed in his early years at Stamford Bridge.

The lack of interest in Chilwell does seem surprising although suitors may well be put off by his wages and injury record, but it’s hard to believe there isn’t a club out there who would want him.

Chelsea need to find a solution because there really are no winners from the situation if Chilwell remains at the club and plays no football for four months.
