Former Maresca player details what coach will be doing at Chelsea during international break

As we are currently in an international break right now but not every Chelsea player is featuring for their countries, what will be happening to the rest of the players?

Feet up and resting perhaps? Some light training? Or something more intense?

Well, it sounds like it will be business as usual at Chelsea’s training centre in Cobham this week and if anything, it will be even more intense than normal, at least in a tactical sense.

Former Leicester player Marc Albrighton knows all about this having worked under Enzo Maresca at Leicester City last season. Of course, Maresca is now at Chelsea and one of his former players would be the best to ask about some insights into the way the Italian coach works.

No time for rest

Albrighton on what to expect from Maresca during international break:

“Previously, international breaks were, ‘right, have a week off, lads, if you’re not going away.’ He was like, no, we’re trying this. We’re going to try this out and see. Sure enough, in the next game we are playing that system.”

So that gives a good insight into what Maresca will be doing at Cobham this week, and it sounds like there will be no rest for the wicked, if you want to call it that.

There are quite a few players actually left back at Cobham this week who have been working hard in training, and of course, there is also new signing Jadon Sancho who is there and will be looking to make an impression.
